Looking after ourselves sounds simple but in practice it takes real commitment, and its easy to feel bad when you let stress get on top of you - "I should be able to manage better". Yay to honesty!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11712016049056860891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6044576021219205068.post-40144234338726913742016-06-12T21:47:49.539+12:002016-06-12T21:47:49.539+12:00ok so now I have googled Capybara I can reply... G...ok so now I have googled Capybara I can reply... Great post Claire and very timely for me too as I juggle growing career and empty nest and start to plot the next phase of my life. Too easy to slide back into bad habits of working all hours and burning out. My goal this year was to be present - be that working, playing, sleeping, dating (with my hubby) - not to be constantly juggling and multi tasking badly. I think I'm winning and it feels great! I'm learning to own MY own brand of awesome!!Catriona Penehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11714499050979982685noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6044576021219205068.post-58496172173896218912016-06-12T19:10:51.612+12:002016-06-12T19:10:51.612+12:00I love our NZ educators and I am thrilled that the...I love our NZ educators and I am thrilled that there are inspirational educators such as yourself who share amazing words of wisdom. Don't know if it's the geography or cultural geology or both, but wow, we make do and make more of. Grit, passion and collaboration.

Your blog post is more than inspirational, Claire, it's part of the keystone philosophy of this incredible reshaping and revolution in education that we are currently part of: student centred, future focused and founded on robust yet dynamic pedagogy. Number 8 wire of education. I thought it was an interesting concept. I totally agree with you about continuing to learn. I'm doing my Masters of Education at the moment. It's challenging being a full time student again for a variety of reasons and the biggest lesson I am learning is I should ask for help when I need it rather than being an emu. I've also learnt that sometimes you don't know what you don't know so you don't ask the right questions! I also agree with you about sharing and blogging. My most popular post has about 12,000 hits and is about how I run my spelling programme! Who would've thought spelling was so popular. I enjoyed what you have written. I so see you doing these things. At the beginning of 2014 I knew it was going to be a difficult year, so I made the decision to try something new every week - be it a food, something different to read or a road i hadn't driven before. Was so worth it. And I love your final statement about having "your own brand of awesomeness". Trying hard on that and was very flattered last night when a friend told me that's what she loves about me! I'm definitely taking things away from this piece of yours.melulaterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00912265739435105092noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6044576021219205068.post-84877790099867046882016-06-10T11:50:08.878+12:002016-06-10T11:50:08.878+12:00Owning my awesome.....
